A case of sheehan¢¥s syndrome

Abstract
|
|
|
A case of Sheehan¢¥s syndrome observed in 311-year old female is presented. The patient was admitted because of amenorrhea, asthenia, loss of libido and nervous irritability, and she had a history of sever b postpartum hemorrhage seven years prior to the hospitalization. Physical examination revealed, loss of axillary and pubic hair and atrophy of breast and external genitalia. Laboratory findings showed following data; BMR, 23% fasting blood sugar, 8O mg%; thyxoxin in serum by Tetrasorb test, 2.5 microgram%; level of urinary 17-ketosteroids, 3.04 mg/24 hours; RBC, 2,.34 million/cu. mm and hemoglobin, 7.5 mg %. Diagnosis was made as Sheehan¢¥s syndrome and the patient was treated with adrenocortical and thyroid hormone. On 20th day of hospitalization she was discharged with improved general conditions.
